How to Clean Quartz Countertops the Right Way

Quartz is stone mixed with resin. The resin makes it stain-resistant. But harsh cleaners can break the resin down. Tucson homeowners pick quartz for its heat resistance and low upkeep. Alex's Cleaning Service uses only quartz-safe products on every kitchen visit.

Daily Cleaning

Mix a few drops of mild dish soap in warm water. Wipe with a soft cloth or microfiber. Rinse and dry. This removes grease and food residue without harming the resin binder.

Disinfecting with Rubbing Alcohol

Mix 70 percent rubbing alcohol with water in equal parts. Apply with a soft cloth. Wipe and dry. This cleans the surface without etching or staining like bleach can.

Stubborn Stains

For dried food or sticky residue, use a plastic scraper to lift the debris first. Then apply your dish soap mix and let it sit for 5 minutes. Wipe and rinse. Never use steel wool or scouring pads.

What to Use and What to Avoid

  • Safe: mild dish soap and warm water for daily cleaning.
  • Safe: 70 percent rubbing alcohol for cleaning and disinfecting.
  • Avoid: bleach, which can discolor the resin.
  • Avoid: abrasive pads and steel wool that scratch the surface.
  • Avoid: high-ammonia cleaners that dull the finish over time.
  • Avoid: oil-based cleaners that leave a film.

Why Product Choice Matters for Quartz

Quartz is held together with resin. Bleach and strong acids break this resin down over time. Dull patches and color changes can show up after heavy use of harsh cleaners. Many quartz makers void their warranty for this reason.

Alex's kitchen deep-clean uses quartz-safe products on every visit. We do not use bleach sprays or rough pads on quartz. Our crew of 3 to 4 checks the surface type before picking a cleaner.

How to Clean Quartz Countertops FAQ

Can I use bleach to clean my quartz countertops?

No. Bleach can harm the resin that binds quartz and may cause color damage. Use 70 percent rubbing alcohol mixed with water instead.

Does quartz need to be sealed like granite?

No. Quartz does not need sealing because the resin makes it non-porous. This is one reason Tucson homeowners choose quartz over granite.

Does Alex's Cleaning Service use quartz-safe products?
