Floor Care Guide
LVP is now the most-installed floor in new Tucson builds. Desert grit and caliche dust can scratch the surface under foot traffic if you skip the right steps.

Vinyl plank flooring looks great but needs the right care. Use a pH-neutral cleaner and a damp microfiber mop. Skip wax and paste polish. They leave a film that traps dirt and dulls the finish.

Desert grit is abrasive. Sweep or dry-mop first to lift loose sand and caliche dust. Dragging grit under a wet mop scratches the surface fast.
LVP is water-resistant, not waterproof. Too much water seeps into seams and causes the planks to lift or buckle. A barely damp mop is the right tool.
Tucson's soil contains caliche, a hard calcium-carbonate material. Foot traffic grinds it into the LVP wear layer. A quick daily sweep removes it before damage starts.
LVP does not need wax or polish. The factory finish is the wear layer. Adding wax traps dirt in the coating and makes the floor look hazy. A pH-neutral cleaner keeps it clear and clean without buildup.
No. Steam forces heat and water into seams. This lifts planks and voids most warranties. Use a cold, damp mop instead.
Once a week is enough for most homes. Sweep or vacuum two to three times a week to manage desert dust between mops.
Diluted white vinegar is often listed as safe, but it can dull some wear layers over time. A pH-neutral cleaner is the safer long-term choice.
